PETALING JAYA, April 16 — Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today accused his rival Datuk Seri Najib Razak of manipulating a statement he had made on the MH370 disaster in a bid to demonise the opposition leader.

Anwar, the de facto leader of PKR, claimed the prime minister was trying to divert attention from his administration’s poor handling of the missing Malaysia Airline plane crisis.

“My statement...was a spontaneous reaction to urge immediate reaction to protect security and (ensure) transparent dissemination of information,” Anwar told reporters at a press conference today.
