SINGAPORE, April 14 — A Malaysian motorist was detained when he allegedly attempted to evade immigration clearance at the Woodlands checkpoint yesterday.

The 42-year-old who was driving a Malaysian-registered Perodua Kembara, was said to have reportedly tried to evade immigration clearance by tailgating a car in front of his vehicle.

An immigration & checkpoints authority (ICA) officer activated the alarm and the Arrival Car Zone was locked down immediately. 

ICA officers, together with the police at the checkpoint found the suspect’s car trapped in the zone. He was arrested.

In a statement today, the ICA said the Malaysian was not in possession of a travel document when he was nabbed in the incident which occurred about 12.20pm. — Bernama
