KOTA BARU, April 3 — The High Court here today set April 7 for decision of an Indonesian maid charged with murdering her employer four years ago.

Judge Datuk Ahmad Zaidi Ibrahim set the date after hearing submissions by both parties.

Last March 30, Ahmad Zaidi ordered Wilfrida Soik, 23, to enter her defence after finding that the prosecution had succeeded in establishing a prima facie case against her.

Wilfrida is charged with murdering Yeap Seok Pen, 60, at a house in Kampung Chabang Empat Tok Uban, Pasir Mas, between 11am and 12.30pm on Dec 7, 2010.

The accused, who had been working for just two weeks in the victim’s house, is accused of using a sharp weapon to cause severe injuries to Yeap’s face leading to death.

She faces the mandatory death sentence under Section 302 of the Penal Code, upon conviction.

Earlier, Penang Hospital forensic consultant, Datuk Dr Zahari Noor told the court that from examination conducted on the maid, she was between 16 and 18 years old when the incident took place.

He said the test to determine her age was based on the formation of her bones and through image scanning.

Another witness, Pastor Febronius Fenat, 55, from Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia, where the maid is from, said based on the baptism book at his church, Wilfrida was born on Oct 12, 1993 and baptised on March 8, 1994.

Meanwhile, Wilfrida’s uncle, Carnelius Kornelis Bere Mau, 57, told the court that the family had no record on Wilfrida’s actual date of birth.
