Jiang Hui, the spokesperson of the estimated 40 Chinese family members gathered in Subang, said his countrymen are generally “kind-hearted” and friendly to those who have been good to them but will continue to hate those at fault for the disappearance of MH370.
“China nationals are kind-hearted and amicable, but at the same time we hate evil, to those wrongdoers who murder our family members, hide the truth, delay the search and rescue, we will definitely not forgive,” he was quoted saying by local daily Sin Chew.
He then thanked Malaysians including well-wishers and volunteers caring for the Chinese families, Sin Chew reported.
He also thanked the Chinese government and all the governments involved in the search for the missing plane, as well as the media.
During the press conference, the family members bowed three times to express their gratitude.
Yesterday was the second day of their arrival from Beijing to receive first-hand information on the MH370 search, with Jiang speaking after Buddhist religious prayers yesterday morning.
The mood during the ceremony was described as sombre and marked with grief, with many of them in tears when asked to remember their loved ones on MH370, Sin Chew reported.
An unnamed Chinese family member thanked the Malaysian government and all who prayed for their loved ones, Sin Chew said.
On Sunday, just hours after flying into Kuala Lumpur, they demonstrated at the Subang Jaya Holiday Villa hotel in protest against what they alleged to be an official cover-up behind the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
Some held aloft banners that read in Chinese and English: “You must return relatives of MH370, no strings attached” and “Hand us the murderer”.
“We want our family back, we want the truth,” chanted the relatives in Mandarin, with Jiang also being their spokesperson then.
They were clad in the same uniform white shirts which they wore during the march to the Malaysian embassy in Beijing last Tuesday.
Chinese family members in Beijing had last week walked out of a briefing to express their dissatisfaction with the information provided by Malaysian officials.
Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced on March 24 that the plane with 239 people on board was lost in the Indian Ocean on March 8 after being mysteriously diverted thousands of miles off course.
He said the conclusion was based on satellite data and other calculations.
A multinational team is still searching for the plane which carried 153 Chinese passengers and passengers from 13 other countries.
