KOTA BARU, March 31 — Police detained a married couple and seized 39,399 pills, believed to be ecstasy pills, worth nearly RM1 million, at  Kampung Gual Tinggi, Rantau Panjang, yesterday.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said the couple, aged 21 and 25, were detained at 2.45am during a raid on their house.

“A search on the couple found several pills, believed to be ecstasy pills, and following questioning, the police were taken to a place where more of the pills were hidden.

“The pills were found in a Milo tin and a plastic container which were buried in a forest area behind the house,” he told a media conference here today.

Jalaluddin said police also seized RM39,599 and 9,000 Thai baht, as well as a Proton Wira car and a motorcycle.

He said both the suspects tested negative for drug and had no previous record.

They are in remand for a week since yesterday to facilitate police investigation for drug trafficking, he added. — Bernama
