KUALA LUMPUR, March 19 — Organisers of Life in Colour, a live music event, have cancelled a concert planned for April 19, following drug-related deaths at last week’s Future Music Festival Asia 2014 in Bukit Jalil.

Describing itself as “the world’s largest paint party”, Life in Colour is a global live music concert which also includes sideshows such as aerial acts, stilt walkers, contortionists, and fire shows; and culminates in a mass paint party.

“Life in Colour wishes to announce that due to the unfortunate events that took place this past weekend, we have decided to cancel the upcoming Life in Colour Malaysia event on April 19th, 2014.

The organisers apologised to fans of the event and promised a full refund for those who had bought tickets.

Selangor PAS Youth had earlier demanded that the “wild” and “sinful” party be cancelled.

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has argued that banning concerts or raves will not stop substance abuse.

Six young people died over the weekend after taking a party drug at the Future Music Festival Asia in Kuala Lumpur.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said today stern action should be taken against the organisers if they failed to prevent drug and alcohol abuse during the event.
