KUALA LUMPUR, March 18 ― Selangor PAS Youth today urged Putrajaya to ban Life-in-Color, a live music event scheduled for April 19, after six drug-related deaths were reported during the Future Music Festival Asia over the weekend.
Calling Life in Color a “wild concert and party”, the Islamic party’s wing claimed it did not see how organising the event would benefit Malaysians.
“Selangor PAS Youth urge for Life-in-Color be banned, and no more approvals be given and no more programmes be held that can only destroy young people,” said Selangor PAS Youth information chief Mohd Rosharizan Md Rozlan in a statement here.
He claimed that Malaysians must unite to “foster pure values” among the public, instead of focusing only on monetary profit and pleasure.
“Remember that what we are gambling on is the future of the religion, country and nation. Do not challenge the power of Allah,” Mohd Rosharizan warned.
Selangor PAS Youth also urged Putrajaya to be more responsible and run extensive research before approving any programme, urging the government to give priority to events that promote knowledge and limit the pursuit of hedonism.
Describing itself as “the world’s largest paint party”, Life-in-Color is a global live music concert which also includes sideshows such as aerial acts, stilt walkers, contortionists, and fire shows; and culminates in a mass paint party.
Kuala Lumpur’s leg of Life-in-Color will be held at the Sepang Go-Kart Circuit next month, featuring renowned Dutch house DJ and producer Fedde le Grand.
