SINGAPORE, March 15 ― Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has written letters to his Malaysian counterpart Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Chinese premier, Li Keqiang to express solidarity and offer support following the missing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.

“Disturbing that Flight MH370 is still missing after a week. The families of the passengers and crew must be distraught with anxiety and grief,” he said in his Facebook posting last night.

Lee said he was following developments closely.

He noted that the republic's ships and aircraft were participating in the Search and Rescue (SAR) mission.

“The Fokker-50 Maritime Patrol Aircraft, an additional aircraft we sent today is assisting in the SAR operations in the Melaka Strait,” he said.

“It was a MAS plane, so not surprisingly there were many Malaysians on board. But the largest group were People's Republic of China passengers, several of whom had studied or worked in Singapore,” he said, adding that he hoped the plane would be found soon.

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight MH370, carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew, went missing en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing about an hour after taking off from the KL International Airport in Sepang at 12.41am last Saturday.

It should have landed in Beijing at 6.30 am. ― Bernama
