KAJANG, March 15 — Barisan Nasional (BN) could still contribute to the people of Selangor, especially Kajang even though it was the opposition in the State Assembly, said chairman of the Kedah Umno Liaison Committee, Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir.
However, the opposition voice should be strengthened to ensure the state government did not sideline the people in all its plans, Mukhriz, who is also Kedah Menteri Besar said.
“...and for that BN is offering Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, a candidate who has calibre and a good record, for the Kajang by-election on March 23.
“Our candidate is someone who has an excellent track record, is capable of seeing to the needs of the people, and has no problems contributing, even though the state is ruled by PKR,” he told reporters after visiting the District Voting Centre (PDM) in Sungai Kantan here today.
Mukhriz also reminded voters not to be fooled by the manifesto put up by the opposing candidate Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail because they should realise that the promises made during the last general elections had not yet been fulfilled.
In her manifesto launched last Wednesday, Wan Azizah had promised to resolve the problem of traffic congestion, curtail crime, develop the youth and small entrepreneurs.
On the PDM Sungai Kantan which was the Umno Kedah’s adopted area, the machinery would continue to work to increase support even though it was a white area for BN. — Bernama
