Malaysia-China hotline to allow better coordination in MH370 search, says Ong

BEIJING, March 12 — Malaysia and China’s respective Civil Aviation Departments have agreed to share first-hand information on the missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370, according to prime minister’s special envoy to China, Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting.

He told the Malaysian media here today that a meeting was held between Malaysia and China to coordinate matters relating to the passengers’ families.

“It was a good meeting, things went smoother for MAS as seen today and it is expected to get better from now on,” he said, adding the meeting was also aimed at creating better rapport between both countries.

Ong said a hotline had been established for Malaysia and China to resolve issues that might arise.

Chinese representatives who were present at the meeting included Vice Foreign Minister Xie Hangsheng, CAAC deputy director Xia Xinghua and Beijing deputy mayor Zhang Yankun.

Also present were Malaysian ambassador to China Datuk Iskandar Sarudin, Malaysian embassy officials, and representatives from MAS and DCA. — Bernama
