KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 — The quality of air at three places in Selangor was unhealthy as at 7am today, according to the Department of Environment (DoE).

The DoE website identified these places as Banting, which had an Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 100, Kuala Selangor (108) and Port Klang (139).

It also said that 31 places had a moderate API reading, among them Muar in Johor (74), Tanah Merah in Kelantan (56), Seri Manjung in Perak (67), Sri Aman in Sarawak (89) and Putrajaya (83).

Seventeen places had a good API reading, among them Kota Tinggi in Johor (29), Jerantut in Pahang (29), Keningau in Sabah (43) and Kuala Terengganu (37), it added.

An API reading of between zero and 50 indicates that the air quality is good; between 51 and 100, moderate; between 101 and 200, unhealthy; between 201 and 300, very unhealthy, and over 301, hazardous.

The public can surf the DoE portal, http://apims.doe.gov.my, to learn of the API reading in their areas. — Bernama
