KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 — Police are still investigating the identities of two passengers travelling with stolen passports on board the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 bound for Beijing and are not ruling out the possibility of a terrorist link for its disappearance, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said today.
Khalid denied media reports that one of the suspects could be a Chinese national and refused to disclose information on the ethnicity of the two passengers.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been reported as saying that the two were Asian in appearance.
“We have studied the video and from our investigation the person is not a Chinese from Xinjiang,” Khalid told a press conference here.
Intense speculation is swirling around the two passengers travelling on stolen passports, linking them to terrorism .
Malaysian authorities say it is still too early to come to any conclusion.
“We still have not classified the missing plane as terrorism but as I’ve said we are not ruling out terrorism,” said Khalid.
“As I said before, we will leave no stone unturned.”
Putrajaya said it will soon release the photos of the two suspects, who boarded on the missing Boeing 777-200 using stolen Italian and Austrian passports.
