SEPANG, March 8 — Hajah Puteh Idris wept today for her daughter-in-law Nor Fadzillah Mat Rahim, who was onboard the missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370 amid unconfirmed reports that the plane crashed off the cost of Vietnam.

Hajah Puteh, a 68-year-old from Kajang, said that Nor Fadzillah, 37, was headed to Beijing for work.

“She’s the best daughter-in-law,” Hajah Puteh said, crying, when approached by reporters at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here.

Another reporter rubbed the old woman’s back as she spoke, her voice shaky.

Hajah Puteh could only manage to add that she received a call from MAS at 9am, before breaking down a few minutes later.

Another Malaysian man, who refused to give his name, said that his niece was headed to Beijing for a holiday.

Dozens of relatives of various nationalities went in and out of the waiting area at the airport here throughout the day, where they anxiously waited for news of the plane that had carried 239 people on board.

Some were in tears as they rushed out of the waiting area, trying to avoid the bright camera flashes and the numerous pressmen amid the sombre atmosphere.

Many declined comment.
