GEORGE TOWN, Feb 28 — A list of 1,182 stratified projects on the island subjected to the 10-year moratorium on the sale of low-cost and low-medium cost units  for first-time buyers have been submitted to the state housing committee.

State housing, town and country planning committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said the list consisting of 174, 564 units, including low-cost (LC) and low-medium cost (LMC) units, had been handed over to the Land Office.

“The list will be used as terms of reference by the Land Office in vetting transactions to such units,” he said.

Jagdeep was referring to Penang's new housing rules effective on  Saturday.

Under the new ruling meant to clamp down on property speculation, a moratorium of up to 10 years will be imposed on LC units costing up to RM42,000 and LMC units of up to RM72,500.

On a separate matter, Jagdeep said the developer (Nuwata Sdn Bhd) of Centrio Avenue in Bukit Gambier had settled 43 out of 56 remainder complaints within the stipulated one-week deadline.

“Following the meeting last Tuesday, the developer has solved 43 complaints,” he said at Komtar. Jagdeep said three complainants could not be contacted, another three were uninterested while another was hospitalised and six others under discussion.

Meanwhile, Jagdeep said he had instructed the developer of Taman Seri Sayang project in Balik Pulau to submit a weekly status report.

Last week, a group of frustrated property buyers protested outside the developer's office in Jalan Macalister, demanding an answer to a 14-year wait for their houses in Balik Pulau.
