SUNGAI PETANI, Feb 20 —  Four Myanmar nationals, believed to be victims of a syndicate of kidnappers, were found chained and listless at a house behind a hotel in Jalan Besar here last night.

The men, in their 30s, were believed to have been held at the house after illegally entering the country, via Thailand, nine days ago.  Their hands were bound in chains and the house was guarded by a compatriot when a police team raided the premises.

He said initial investigations revealed the victims were bound in chains by a group to seek ransom from their respective families in Myanmar to secure their release.

“One of the victims admitted they were brought into the country nine days ago before being detained in the house,” he said when contacted here today. — Bernama
