KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 4 — An officer from the Special Branch was found dead today, apparently shot twice in the head near Jalan Seremban, Federal Hill.

The Star reported the 37-year-old lance corporal's body was found lying by the roadside at 4.30pm by a passerby on Wednesday.

Khairi Ahrasa, acting City CID chief Asst Comm said that police found two 9mm bullet casings next to the body.

"Our investigations revealed that he died on the spot after being shot twice in the head," ACP Khairi was quoted as saying.

No weapon, nor signs of struggle were detected at the scene. A motorcycle was, however, found parked 1.5m away. It was ascertained as not belonging to the victim.

The police are now finding out the reasons why the officer was in the vicinity, investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

At present time, the body has been sent for a post-mortem at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.

The victim, according to the police, was unmarried and lived in Puchong. Police declined to reveal the victim's identity until his nearest kin had been informed.
