KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 24 — The Sultan Mizan Royal Foundation (YDSM) today denied reports that it was organising the visit of Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said to Antarctica.

Its executive secretary, Mohd Azrul Ismail said the foundation was only involved in charity work to help raise the socio-economic standard and wellbeing of the people.

“The visit is not organised by YDSM and it is not linked to foundation’s programme,” it said in a statement today.

On January 15, a local daily reported that Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said would be heading a visit the Antarctica for 15 days on a trip organised by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry through the initiative of the foundation.

The statement issued by Terengganu mentri besar’s office said the visit was aimed at paving the way for the government to set up a research station with Instituto Antartico Chileno (INACH). — Bernama
