Muhyiddin heads list of Kedah state award recipients

ALOR SETAR, Jan 19 — Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin heads the list of 114 recipients of state awards and medals in conjunction with the 86th birthday of the Sultan of Kedah, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah tomorrow.

Muhyiddin is the sole recipient of the Darjah Seri Setia Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Yang Amat Dihormati (S.H.M.S), which carries the title, “Datuk Seri DiRaja”.

Menteri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir is conferred the Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Kedah Yang Amat Dihormati (S.PMK), which carries the title, “Datuk Seri”.

Chairman of the Kedah Regency Council, Tan Sri Tunku Annuar Sultan Badlishah will present the state awards and medals at an investiture ceremony at the Balai Penghadapan, Istana Anak Bukit, here.

Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Deputy Minister Datuk Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah is the sole recipient of the Darjah Seri Setia DiRaja Kedah Yang Amat Dihormati (S.S.D.K), which also carries the “Datuk Seri” title.

Three others — State Secretary Datuk Mohd Puad Mohd Ali, Bukit Aman police Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Syed Ismail Syed Azizan and Yayasan Muhibah chairman Tan Sri Fng Ah Seng, who is also a businessman — are conferred the Darjah Paduka Seri Setia Sultan Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah (D.H.M.S), which carries the title, “Datuk Paduka”.

Ten recipients of the Darjah Gemilang Seri Mahkota Kedah (D.G.M.K), which carries the title, “Datuk Wira”, include state financial officer Datuk Khazali Din, Kedah Land and Mines director Datuk Muhamad Nor Rofie and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak.

The others are Istana Negara comptroller Datuk Awang Kechik Abdul Rahman, Veterans Affairs Department director-general Maj-Gen Datuk Mohd Noor Daud, Maj-Gen Datuk Md Tajri Alwi (Istana Negara), Penang police chief Senior DCP Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi, High Point World Wide Sdn Bhd executive chairman Datuk Abu Zaki Zakaria, Urusan Setia Teknoloji Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk Majid Wan Chik and Kumpulan Widad managing director/chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Mohamad Ikmal Opat Abdullah.

For the Darjah Kebesaran Mahkota Kedah (D.PMK), which carries the title, “Datuk”, the two recipients are Prime Minister’s Department Implementation Coordination Unit (Strategic Development) deputy director Datuk Seri Ab Ghani Ariffin and Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) CEO Tan Sri Khalid Ramli.

Another 67 people are conferred the Darjah Setia DiRaja Kedah (D.S.D.K), which carries the title, “Datuk”, while Dr Annabel Teh Gallop, who is head of the Southeast Asia Section of the British Library, London, is the sole recipient of the Honourary D.S.D.K. award, which also carries the title, “Datuk”, while 28 others are made Justices of the Peace (JP).
