Police obtain 4-day remand for man claiming to be Malacca sultan

MALACCA, Jan 15 — The police have secured a court order to remand an individual by the name of Nor Jan Tuah for four days from today to assist in the investigation into his claim to being the sultan of Malacca.

The order was issued by the deputy registrar of the subordinate courts, V. Kanasan, to enable the police conduct their probe under the Sedition Act. 

Nor Jan, 57, was detained at 10.50 am yesterday at the Anjung Batu Jetty in Umbai, Jasin, as he was about to board a boat headed for Pulau Besar for an event with his “followers”.  — Bernama
