KUALA NERANG, Jan 11 — Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) will provide 40 generators to flood relief centres in preparation for the second wave of floods in Pahang.
Deputy Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said this must be done by TNB if power supply had to be cut when substations were inundated.
“This is the Standard Operating Procedure in managing a natural disaster crisis whereby TNB has to provide electricity to victims at relief centres.
“We will be forced to cut power supply when a flood occurs and the generators will be used to provide power to the victims. In the first wave of the floods in early December, we provided 40 generators at a cost of RM3 million,” he told reporters here, today.
He said the ministry was prepared for the second wave of floods in the state and was confident of providing the best service to the victims in managing electricity during the floods. — Bernama
