SHAH ALAM, Dec 31 — Police seized 56 T-shirts yesterday with provocative messages, presumably intended to be worn for the illegal assembly on the eve of New year, today.
Selangor Police deputy chief Datuk Abd Rahim Jaafar said the T-shirts were seized in a raid at a house in Taman Lestari Perdana, Seri Kembangan, Selangor, after a tip off at 2am.
“Police found 56 T-shirts which had numerous subversive and provocative messages printed on them, which we believe was intended to be worn during the illegal assembly to topple the government, tonight.
“Police also recorded a statement from a 37-year-old man in the house who is believed to be involved in selling the T-shirts,” he told reporters at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters here, today.
Abd Rahim said preliminary investigations revealed that the man worked on a free-lance basis to sell the T-shirts via the internet.
He said the police were hunting the main suspect in the case, a friend of the 37-year-old man, who is believed to be involved in the printing of the T-shirts.
The case is being investigated under Section 124 of the Penal Code for an attempt to jeopardise parliamentary democracy, and if found guilty, could be jailed for up to 15 years. — Bernama
