PASIR MAS, Dec 29 — The situation at the Malaysia-Thai border is under control despite several incidents, including bombings, in southern Thailand, recently.
“Our soldiers are ready to face any circumstances. Like in Kelantan, I congratulate them for being able to handle the situation at the border well in ensuring peace along the Malaysia-Thai border,” he told reporters after a visit to the Malaysia-Thai border at Jeram Perdah in Rantau Panjang here today.
However, he said, the number of Malaysians going to southern Thailand was reported to have dropped since the bombing incidents in Danok last Dec 22.
In another development, he said 24 illegal immigrants had been detained and smuggled goods, worth RM200,000, were seized along the Malaysia-Thai border in Kelantan this month alone.— Bernama
