KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 24 — Thousands of residents in Rawang, near here, were stranded due to flash floods, especially near the Aeon Rawang shopping centre.

According to a Rawang Fire and Rescue Department spokesman, heavy rain early this morning caused a river near the shopping complex to overflow its banks and inundate the surrounding areas.

“It also caused a massive traffic jam from the direction of Jalan Batu Arang heading to Aeon Rawang,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

The floods affected those travelling to work or carrying out their daily businesses since 6am today. — Bernama
