KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 24 — Police have clarified that the 18-year-old student found dead with her Indian national lover was not from Mahsa University.
Kolej Masa head of operations Mike Kanapathy confirmed with The Malay Mail that Shanmugavalli was a first year student pursuing business studies.
“She was one of our brighter students here and we are still shocked over her tragic death,” he said.
Shanmugavalli, 18, was found dead in bed with Mohinder Pal Alias Mohinder Lalwas in a unit at Lestari apartments on Wednesday.

She was reported missing by her family five days before her body was found.
Her father, identified only as Kannan, and the college lodged a police report on Dec 14 after she missed classes and failed to return to the hostel.
On Wednesday, police were alerted to the bodies by a 44-year-old property agent who had gone to the unit to collect rent.
After knocking and getting no answer, the agent broke into the apartment when he detected an odour coming from inside.
The agent found Shanmugavalli and Mohinder Pal on the bed.
The couple had multiple stab wounds and were lying in a pool of blood.
Fadil said police had yet to establish the motive for the murders and no arrest had been made.
“We have recorded statements from her friends, her college and family. Investigations are ongoing,” he said.
A knife was retrieved from the scene but there were no signs of forced entry.
