Floods subside completely in Pahang

KUANTAN, Dec 18 — The floods are finally over in Pahang with the last remaining 59 evacuees from 16 at four shelters in two districts allowed back home.

A spokesman at the Pahang police headquarters flood operations room said all of them were allowed to return to the homes at 3.30pm today.

Forty-one of the evacuees were sheltered at three relief centres in Pekan, namely the Temai Tengah community hall, Sekolah Kebangsaan Temai and Sekolah Kebangsaan Aceh.  

The Maran district had 18 evacuees at the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pesagi.

At the height of the floods, which struck on December 2, more than 40,000 were moved to evacuation centres in nine districts. The floods claimed three lives. — Bernama
