KANGAR, Dec 17 — The allowance of exco members and state assemblymen here will be increased from January 1, 2014.

Without specifying the amount, Mentri Besar (MB) Azlan Man said the increase in allowance including remuneration and privileges was agreed upon in the state exco meeting on November 29.       

Replying to an oral question from Nurulhisham Yaakob (BN-Simpang Empat) in the legislative assembly here today, he said the allowance was last revised in 2006.

The rate of remuneration and allowances received by assemblymen now is not very different to that received by assemblymen in other states like Malacca, Penang, Johor, Pahang and Kedah before several states reviewed it recently. — Bernama
