Flood situation in Pahang improves further

KUANTAN, Dec 16 — The flood situation in Pahang continues to improve with the number of victims at the relief centres down to 1,263 at 9pm from 2,657 at 4pm today.

According to a spokesman for the flood operations room, state contingent police headquarters, all the flood victims from 305 families were at 16 relief centres in three of the flood-hit districts.

The district of Pekan still recorded the highest number of victims, although it has dropped to 1,098 from 272 families at 11 relief centres compared to 1,879 from 470 families at 21 centres in the evening.

Kuantan also showed a drop with only 27 people from six families at two relief centres compared to 640 from 164 families at three centres this evening.

There were still 138 people from 27 families at three relief centres in Maran, said the spokesman. — Bernama
