Suspects in murder of Jaip officer to be charged on Monday

KUANTAN, Dec 13 — Several suspects linked to the “Tuhan Harun’ deviant teachings will be charged in the Magistrate’s Court, here, on Monday with the murder of the Pahang Islamic Religious Department (Jaip) enforcement chief last month.

They will be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code in connection with the murder of Mohd Raffli Ab Malik, 49, on November 10.

Pahang police chief, Datuk Sharifuddin Ab Ghani confirmed this, here, today when met by reporters after handing out aid to police personnel affected by the floods.

According to earlier media reports, police had confirmed that the suspect who shot the Jaip enforcement chief was among 15 members of the “Tuhan Harun” deviant group nabbed in a series of arrests recently.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar had said that thorough investigations on those arrested also showed that a pistol seized during an arrest was of the same type used in the shooting incident.

Mohd Raffli Abdul Malik, 49, was shot by one of three men who came to his house and the shooting is believed to be linked to action taken by the state religious enforcement authorities against the spread of Syiah teachings. — Bernama
