KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 — The under construction Low Cost Carrier Terminal, KLIA2, is scheduled for completion by end-January next year, with the Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) to be issued at the same time, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) said.

The airport operator said this would enable operational readiness and airport transfer (ORAT) to commence over three months before the opening date of May 2.

“MAHB has been monitoring the progress in construction of the KLIA2 and has noted that the apron, third runway and taxiway, and other infrastructure facilities have been completed.

“The remaining works of aeronautical ground lightings (AGL) and air traffic control systems (ATCS) are progressing on schedule,” it said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.

However, the company has noted with concern the slippage in the work schedule of the KLIA2 terminal building, being constructed by the UEMC-Binapuri joint venture, and has expressed this concern to the contractor.

“MAHB has reiterated to the terminal building contractor that this project is of national importance and therefore, they should make every endeavor to complete on time, as committed by them for the May 2 opening of the KLIA2,” it said.

It added that the special task force headed by the deputy minister of transport is also aware of these concerns, and is continuing to monitor the construction works diligently. — Bernama
