ROMPIN, Dec 13 — A housewife claims her jewellery worth RM20,000 went missing without her knowledge after she met two men when returning from a night market.

The 45-year-old woman from Felda Keratong 3, near here, claims she was hypnotised after a man approached her asking for the location of a house that she did not know.

Rompin police chief DSP Ahmad Johari Jahaya said in the 6pm incident yesterday, the victim was just starting her motorcycle when one of the suspects approached her and asked for the location of a house in a Sabah accent.

“When the victim replied she did not know the location of the house another man (believed to be the second suspect) intervened from behind her saying he knew the location. The first suspect thanked the man before giving a red stone to the victim and also to the man who assisted him (second suspect) as a token of appreciation,” he told reporters here today.

When the victim asked about the stone the first suspect explained the stone could be used as a remedy for insect bites and so on.

“He said the stone should be wrapped in a white cloth and if not with a ringgit note,” he said.

Johari said the victim, then removed all her jewellery like necklaces, bracelets and rings after being told that she cannot wear them and put them in her bag. On arriving home, the victim found all her jewellery items had ‘turned’ into stone. — Bernama
