MARANG, Dec 11 — A Year Six pupil was found drowned while taking a dip with two friends at a canal in Kampung Undang here yesterday.

Divers from the state fire and rescue department found the body of Muhammad Asyraaf Zukifli, 12, at 9.45pm.

According to his father, Zulkifli Mohd Rabi, 41, Muhammad Asyraaf left their home at 2.30pm, without informing the family where he was heading to.

He said his son, third of six siblings, had earlier asked his mother for RM1 to buy candy.

“We only found out he had drowned after being informed by villagers at about 6pm. At that time, I was heading home after sorting out work-related matters in Jertih, Besut,” said Zulkifli, 41. — Bernama
