NIBONG TEBAL, Dec 9 — Police are looking for a few more suspects in connection with the shooting incident at Taman Putri Gunung near Simpang Ampat here on Friday night.
State CID chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Mazlan Kesah said police were confident the suspects would be apprehended soon.
Two men aged 21 and 35 were detained three hours after unemployed M. Partipan, 29, was gunned down at close range while walking alone.
A seven-day remand order was obtained against the duo.
“We believe there are more men involved in the shooting,” Mazlan said.
He said the police were looking at gang rivalry as the motive for the murder.
This is the second time an attempt was made on Partipan’s life. The first was on June 20 but he managed to escape with gunshot wounds to his ribs and finger.
In the latest shooting, the assailant used a semi-automatic pistol and pumped six shots at Partipan, who had a criminal record.
Police recovered a torched car about five kilometres away from the murder scene.
The vehicle was reported stolen in Seberang Jaya a week ago.
