JOHOR BARU, Dec 6 — Johor saw the number of its flood evacuees decrease this evening, with 1,071 at relief centres compared to 1,825 in the morning.

The portal of the National Security Council reported that 486 of the evacuees were in Batu Pahat; 145 in Kota Tinggi; 432 in Segamat and eight in Ledang.

They were being housed in 18 relief centres in these districts.

The evacuees in the districts of Kluang, Mersing, Muar and Pontian had been allowed to return to their homes as the floodwaters in their areas had receded.

In Kota Tinggi, district officer Mohd Noorazam Datuk Osman said one of the three relief centres in the district was closed after the 73 evacuees were allowed to return to their homes.

He expressed optimism that more evacuees would be allowed to return to their homes if the weather continued to be fine. — Bernama
