More people evacuated in flood-hit Kelantan

KOTA BAHARU, Dec 4 — The number of people forced to evacuate due to floods in the Kuala Krai district rose to 538 tonight, up from 436 this evening after floods struck Kelantan today.  

The official portal of the state government reported that all the evacuees were from Mengkebang and Olak Jeram and they were being put up at six relief centres.

The level of Sungai Kelantan at Tangga Krai was 25.42 metres as at 8 pm, the danger level being 25 metres, while at the Guillemard Bridge it was 16.73 metres (16 metres).

The level of Sungai Lebir at Tualang was also above the danger point, 35.94 metres (35 metres) while the level of Sungai Golok at Rantau Panjang was 9.01 metres (nine metres). 

The levels of the other rivers in the state were reported to be rising as rain continues to fall in the interior areas.— Bernama
