SHAH ALAM, Dec 3 — An Indonesian man was sentenced to 54 months’ jail by the Sessions Court here, yesterday, for possession of two forged Indonesian passports and seven Indonesian passports that did not belong to him between August and November this year.
Judge M. Bakri Abd Majid sentenced the illegal immigrant, Abdullah Busahlan, 43, to six months’ imprisonment on each count after he pleaded guilty to the nine charges read to him.
He also ordered that the sentences be executed separately from the date of his arrest on November 20 last year.
Abdullah was charged with the possession of two Indonesian passports in the name of ‘Hendrawan’ and ‘Amrizal’ that had been falsified.
The accused was convicted of both charges on August 28, between 11.30am and noon at the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) in Sepang.
Abdullah was also charged with possessing seven Indonesian passports belonging to individuals named Muliadi, Paryumi, Mat Suhar, Holifah, Yualiatin, Reny and Samsuri at 3.30pm on November 20 at Lot 3736-A, Lorong Abullah, Bt 7 1/2, Jalan Kebun, Klang.
Deputy public prosecutor from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Kevin Morais said the accused was in Malaysia without valid travel documents and only had an Indonesian identity card.
“The accused was involved in producing falsified passports for illegal Indonesians in Malaysia so that they could leave Malaysia without legal restrictions,” he said.
Morais said until now, the MACC had not been able to confirm the nationality of the individuals whose passports were seized from the accused, and their whereabouts.
Abdullah, who was not represented by a counsel, mitigated for a lenient sentence as he was suffering from asthma and high blood pressure, and had to support four children, aged one to 14 years, and an elderly mother. — Bernama
