KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 — A debate on a motion to improve the Umno election is expected to enliven the Umno Youth Assembly starting Wednesday, said Umno Youth vice-chief Khairul Azwan Harun.
“We have to learn from our experience recently, particularly the fate of unknown candidates, including new faces, vying for the executive committee seat.
“Umno Youth delegates knew the candidates vying for the Supreme Council seat better as most of them are noted leaders or ministers,” he said after a roundtable conference on motions to be tabled at the Umno Youth Assembly, here today.
Other motions that will be highlighted are employment, housing and economic opportunities for Bumiputera.
The Umno Youth will also table a motion on the need to entice more young people to join Umno in preparations for the 14th general election.
Meanwhile, Khairul Azwan announced the appointment of 14 speakers representing each state, including Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) student Mohd Affifi Mohd Aris who is representing students.
They were appointed at the roundtable conference held for the first time to coordinate the motions.
Khairul Azwan the round-table conference also agreed to capitalise on social media such as Facebook and Twitter to help smoothen the assembly. — Bernama
