KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 — The police have unravelled the murder of Pahang Islamic Religious Department (Jaip) head of enforcement with the arrest of 13 Tuhan Harun cult members and seizure of a pistol, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (picture).
Two women were among those arrested.
He congratulated the police’s Special Task Force on Organised Crime (Stafoc) for the success.
“Well done to the Bukit Aman Cantas Team for unravelling Jaip head of enforcement murder. 13 arrested and pistol seized,” he said in Twitter post tonight.
Khalid could not be reached for further comment.
Jaip head of enforcement Ahmad Rafli Abdul Malek, 49, was shot dead at his house in Indera Mahkota 2, Kuantan after a man wearing a skullcap and dressed in black called out to him on November 10.
On November 20, Tuhan Harun cult leader Harun Mat Saad was arrested along with two suspects following raids in two separate locations in Tangkak, Johor.
The crack team Stafoc comprises 400 officers from the Criminal Investigation and Narcotics Department was launched on November 21 and will be fully operational on January 1.
The elite force — operating on the concept of Intelligence-Led Policing and Aggressive Action on Organised Crime — will focus specifically on serious crimes including people trafficking, prostitution and drug gangs. — Bernama
