KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 — In an effort to make Umno more inclusive, the party has agreed to allow professionals, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and those with Malay interests to give input for motions to be tabled at its general assembly next month.

Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the matter was agreed to by the Supreme Council yesterday.

“NGOs and quarters wanting to be with us, we can accommodate them and provide them with the necessary platform through a round-table discussion and certain other methods to obtain their input for the motions.

“This is to ensure the motions are more inclusive,” he said after chairing the Defence Ministry’s post-cabinet meeting here today.

Hishammuddin, who heads the Motion Committee, said the debate during the assembly would be directed on the needs and demands, as well as the concern of the Malays, as well as Muslims.

He said the secretary of the respective state Umno liaison committees should also give their input, as well as the list of spokesmen for the motions on economy, religion and education.

The Umno general assembly will be held from December 2 to 7. — Bernama
