KUANTAN, Nov 20 — The leader of the “Tuhan Harun” deviant sect, who has been on the run from the police and Pahang religious authorities, was arrested by police along with a woman in her 30s in Taman Bandar Baru, Tangkak, Ledang, Johor at 3.30pm today.
A source told Bernama that 10 minutes earlier, police had also arrested a man in his 40s in Jalan Hospital, Tangkak, in connection with the fatal shooting of Pahang Islamic Religious Department (Jaip) enforcement chief Ahmad Raffli Abd Malik here on November 10.
The leader of the sect, aged 47 years, had been on the wanted list for not turning up for case management twice at a Syariah court in Kuantan, the last on November 13, over charges he was facing for allegedly spreading deviant teachings and insulting Islam.
The sect is also believed to be linked to the murder of Ahmad Raffli, who was said to have a no non-sense approach in dealing with deviant sects and vice in Pahang.
Ahmad Raffli was gunned down in cold blood in front of his house after being confronted by three suspects who came in a car. All were reported to be clad in black robes had white “kopiah” (skull caps) on their heads.
