KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 — A teenager pleaded guilty at the Sessions Court here to raping a 13-year-old girl last year.

The boy, 18, who was a Form Five student at the time, admitted to raping the girl at his mother’s rented house in Putrajaya on October 19, 2012.

The oldest of three siblings was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code which is punishable by up to 20 years’ imprisonment and caning, upon conviction.

In his appeal for clemency, the remorseful teen told the court he did not know that his act constituted rape and asked to be sent to the Henry Gurney School.

Judge Emilia Kaswati Mohamad Khalid set bail at RM3,000 with one surety and scheduled December 20 for mention pending a character report, before sentencing.

The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Henry Tan, while the accused was unrepresented. — Bernama
