MALACCA, Nov 20 — The appointment of an MCA representative to the Malacca state executive council (exco) will be announced after a state exco meeting on November 30, Malacca chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said.
What is certain is that there would be MCA’s representation in the exco but who among the candidates, namely Datuk Lai Meng Chong (Machap), Datuk Ng Choon Koon (Bemban) and Lim Ban Hong (Klebang), would be announced after the state exco meeting, he said.
“Currently there are two vacancies in the exco line up but the question of whether both vacancies will be filled up by MCA or only one or one now another one later, will only be decided after the exco meeting,” he told reporters, here, today.
Earlier, MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek visited Idris at his office, purportedly to discuss issues pertaining to the appointment of MCA representatives in the exco.
The MCA extraordinary general meeting on October 20 had passed a resolution to allow party members to accept state government posts.
Malacca currently has eight exco members, seven from Umno and one from MIC. — Bernama
