DUNGUN, Nov 19 — A 17-year-old teenager was charged at the Magistrates Court here today, with hijacking two cars and causing an accident at the Bukit Besi Ajil rest area on November 4.
The boy pleaded guilty to four counts of hijacking the cars and wrongfully confining its passengers before Magistrate Hazwanie Husain Bustari in closed court.
The first and second counts involved driving off a Nissan Livina multi-purpose vehicle at the Ajil rest area, Kuala Berang and confining the three passengers in it between 5.50 and 6.30 pm on November 4.
For the third and fourth charges he was accused of hijacking a Perodua Myvi car with its passengers as well, along Jalan Jerangau-Jabor, Dungun between 6 and 6.40 pm the same day.
Remention was scheduled for December 11 and 22 pending a character report from
the Social Welfare Department.
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Wan Mohd Izzat Wan Abdullah. No bail was offered to the accused, who was unaccompanied by family and unrepresented.
The two separate incidents were reported in the media on November 4.
It was stated that the Nissan Livina passengers, Pirhat Karim and his wife Che Mastura Che Awang, 31, were injured, while their nine-month-old baby was in a coma. — Bernama
