IPOH, Nov 15 — The police will further tighten border monitoring and inspection through the special Ops Cantas in force to curb the movements of secret society members in and out of the country.
General Operations Force (GOF), North Brigade Commander Datuk Azman Yusof said stringent monitoring would be carried out at all border checkpoints which were used as escape routes by these suspects.
“We have information that the secret society members escape into the neighbouring country to either live there or remove their tattoos.
“Some even pose as tourists to do so,” he said after the Excellent Service Awards ceremony and Quality Day at the GOF North Brigade Camp here today.
Meanwhile, the special Ops Cantas which was launched on September 15 focused on enforcement in three areas, namely firearms, drugs and human trafficking. He said so far various items worth RM52,000 including ketum leaves, drug paraphernalia and stolen vehicles have been seized during the operation.
“This achievement by the GOF in guarding the border and curbing these illegal activities is to be lauded,” he said.
