SEREMBAN, Nov 15 — A 60-year-old woman, riding pillion with her daughter, was killed in a snatch theft attempt after she fell off the motorcycle when it was kicked by one of two snatch thieves in Jalan Haji Mohd Said here today.

Jamariah Ahir, 65, a cleaner at a bank here, was on the way home to Sikamat with her daughter, Norain Mohd Yusof, 23, when two men on a motorcycle came from behind to grab her handbag at 3.55pm, said a police spokesman.

He said one of the thieves kicked the motorcycle as Jamariah and her daughter tried to stave off the theft, causing both of them to be thrown onto the road while the thieves fled empty handed.

Jamariah, who suffered injuries on the hands, ribs and knees, died at the scene while Norain was treated for minor injuries at the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital here.

Seremban deputy police chief DSP Baharudin Mustapha, when contacted, said the police were looking for the two suspects. — Bernama
