JOHOR BARU, Nov 13 — Johor Baru MIC chairman Datuk S Balakrishnan is offering himself for a vice president post at the party’s upcoming polls in Malacca at the end of this month.
This will be his second attempt for the post after facing defeat in the 2009 polls.
“I am confident of winning this time around,” he told a press conference to announce his candidature at a hotel here today.
Nominations are set for this Saturday and polling on November 30.
So far incumbents Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk M Saravanan and Perak State Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri SK Devamany have announced that they will defend their seats.
Former MIC vice president Datuk S Sothinathan and MIC Youth chief Datuk T Mohan have also indicated they would be joining the fray for the three vice president posts. — Bernama
