IPOH, Nov 8 — Perak is considering selling water to certain states in need of more water supply, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir.
He said the state government was still studying the matter as it would involve some technical aspects.
“The meeting today also discussed a number of proposals received by the state government to supply water to certain states. However, I cannot name the states,” he said after chairing the meeting of the Perak Water Board (LAP), here, today.
Zambry said among the matters to be studied was whether the sale would involve raw water or treated water.
“The state government would of course prefer to sell treated water,” he said.
On LAP (Lembaga Air Perak), he said it showed good performance this year.
“Revenue-wise when the accounts for the year close, we expect the profit made to be of the same as last year’s,” he added.
LAP recorded a pre-tax profit of RM383.83 million last year compared to RM104.32 million in 2011. — Bernama
