KOTA KINABALU, Nov 4 — The Sabah marine police seized more than 120,000 packets of cigarettes, worth RM2.5 million, in a raid at a house, believed to be used as a store, in Kampung Kitobu, Inanam, two days ago.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said it was the biggest seizure of the contraband by the team this year.
The contraband, comprising 102,500 packets of Eka Merah cigarettes and 22,500 packets of Eka Hijau cigarettes, was seized during a 4am raid last November 2 which was conducted following a tip-off and surveillance, he told reporters here today.
However, he said, no arrest was made.
Hamza said the seized contraband would be handed over to the Customs Department for further action. — Bernama
