KUANTAN, Nov 1 — The Pahang government has announced a special public holiday on Monday in conjunction with Sunday's Malaysia Cup final at the Shah Alam Stadium between Pahang and Kelantan.
Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob said the state government considered various factors before deciding to make Monday (November 4) a public holiday.
“The main consideration was to allow fans to plan their trip to Shah Alam for the final. We do not want them to rush back after the match.
“Perhaps they can stay overnight in Shah Alam or Kuala Lumpur and return home on Monday in staggered journeys,” he told reporters at an event to wish the players and fans good luck ahead of the final, here today.
He also said the state government would consider giving handsome rewards to the team members if The Elephants succeeded in wresting the Cup from the defending champions.
Asked his prediction on the result, Adnan said it would be a tough match but expected Pahang to prevail 2-0. — Bernama
