KOTA BHARU, Oct 30 — The Kelantan state government today declared November 4 (Monday) a state holiday for the Malaysia Cup final between Kelantan and Pahang. The game will be played at the Shah Alam Stadium in Selangor on Sunday.

State Secretary Datuk Dr Zainuddin Ibrahim said it was decided at the state Exco meeting today chaired by Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob.

He said it was hoped that Kelantan fans would plan their trip to Shah Alam as it would be a long weekend since Friday was also a holiday in Kelantan.

“They will not have to rush back after the match since it can be a safety hazard. I hope the fans will give their undivided support to the team,” he told Bernama, here, today.

The match kicks off at 8.45pm on Sunday.

The Kelantan FA said 10,000 of the 30,000 tickets that were put up for sale at the Sultan Muhammad Stadium IV, here, today, were taken up by fans within 90 minutes. The die-hard Kelantan fans had started camping at the stadium since 6.30am although tickets counters opened only at 3pm.

There was a slight commotion as fans clamoured over each other to buy the tickets but the presence of 73 police officers since 12 noon averted any serious incidents.

Kota Bharu police chief ACP Azham Othman said the commotion started since some fans were impatient but the police officers present at the stadium brought the situation under control and prevented any other untoward incidents. — Bernama
