East Coast Highway general manager killed in accident

DUNGUN, Oct 28 — A project manager was killed when a four-wheel-drive vehicle he was in crashed into the back of a lorry trailer at Kilometer 106, Jalan Jerangau-Jabor, near here yesterday.

In the 7.25pm incident, the victim Rusli Embok, 55, a general manager of the East Coast Highway Phase 2 project died at the scene from injuries to the head and body.

Dungun police chief Supt Ahmad Zailani Yaacub said upon approaching the accident scene, Rusli's driver, Mohamad Zuki Ngah, 44, was believed to have failed to avoid a stationary lorry trailer in the middle of the road.

“As a result of the collision, the four-wheel drive spun into the other side of the road before being hit by another car coming from the opposite direction.

“Mohamad Zuki, who was seriously injured on the head, was being treated at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terengganu," he told reporters. — Bernama
